Stock Takes: Michael Hill eyes reality TV show

He's known for his jewellery stores, golf course and beautiful yacht and now Michael Hill could also be involved in a reality television show.
The wealthy business-owner has suggested a show could be a possibility as part of his Ultimate Engagement Ring competition.
Hill is using American reality TV star Kim Kardashian to promote the competition which offers the chance for couples in New Zealand, Australia, the US and Canada to win a 22.25-carat diamond ring.
He told members of the New Zealand Shareholders Association at their annual awards dinner last week that filming Kardashian was part of the deal and it could lead to a TV show.
But he admitted neither he nor his wife were big fans of reality TV. Asked whether he had watched much of the US star's show Keeping up with the Kardashians he said his wife had watched about 15 minutes before turning it off.
Hill says he is in the process of revamping all his jewellery stores after learning a lot from entering the tough US market.
A new range of jewellery is also expected to be launched before Christmas after Hill hired a new designer from a firm linked to United States investment guru Warren Buffet.
He is also planning a perfume range.
Shares in Michael Hill International closed steady on 80c yesterday.

Katie: Shows won't feature my kids

Katie Price has declared she will no longer feature her children Junior and Princess in photo shoots or on her TV shows.
She said her youngest son and daughter - her children with ex-husband Peter Andre - are being removed from "the public eye".
In a message on social networking site Twitter she said wanted the youngsters to have a "normal" childhood.
Her vow comes just days after trails for Andre's ITV2 series The Next Chapter contained prominent appearances by Princess, three, and Junior, five.
Price has often included her family in glossy magazine shoots as well as her television shows.
And the youngsters featured earlier this year as models for Price's Equestrian range of clothes for children.
Price, 32, also has an eight-year-old son from a relationship with Dwight Yorke.
The model - who married cage fighter Alex Reid earlier this year - has now moved to a new broadcaster Living TV for her new shows, after many years on ITV2.

In her Twitter messages, she said: "Start filming for my new reality show this week. Junior and Princess won't be in any of my shows or any photo shoots again."

Controversy follows Sarah Palin clubbing fish to death on reality show

As if Bristol Palin's votes on Dancing With the Stars wasn't controversial enough with accusations flying that Palin fans figured out how to stuff the ballot box, former Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin's Alaska showed the outdoors woman clubbing a fish to its death. To add even more drama, Bristol later holds the fish's still beating heart in her hand; a sight Sarah called "weird."
Alaska Charter Associates stated that halibut clubbing is standard practice among fishermen; a spokesperson labeled it humane. In Defense of Animals, a national humane non-profit organization located in San Rafael, California called it a "snuff video."
"Most disturbing is the way she seems to enjoy causing suffering to other beings. When they laugh about the beating heart that Bristol holds in her hand, their complete insensitivity to the animal kingdom becomes clear," stated a spokesperson for the organization.
The reality shows airs on U.S. Cable network TLC, but has been quickly losing its audience. Ratings have decreased by 40 percent since the debut of the show which drew five million viewers.
" I didn't need to watch her beating a fish to death. I know it's a reality show, but something about Sarah Palin and all of the photos I have seen with her killing animals just doesn't inspire me to think of her as any kind of political leader. It's all too gruesome and heartless," states Karen Wilkensen of Stuart, Florida.
Last evening Bristol Palin came in third at the final show of Dancing With the Stars after Kyle Massey and winner Jennifer Grey.
